The child protection organization Prostasia recently announced that it be disbanding. For a long time, Prostasia advocated to stopping the spread of CSEM. Sex positivity, education, and reducing stigma were some of its goals. To this end, Prostasia funded the MAP Support Club self-help chat, where minors who are pedophiles in particular can receive help and support.
The reason for the dissolution is the growing hostility towards their goals, which includes the increasing stigmatization of pedophiles. This is the case even when clear values are represented and sexual acts with children are strictly rejected. In 2021, death threats and doxxing against team members increased after Prostasia conducted an interview with sociology and criminal law professor Dr. Allyn Walker. More information on this and a summary of Prostasia's achievements can be found on the website of its founder, Jeremy Malcom.
As an important voice and institution that sought to reduce stigmatization, conducted scientific research on sexualized violence, and advocated for evidence-based criminal policy, Prostasia leaves a gap that is unlikely to be filled in the foreseeable future. However, we are very pleased that the continued funding of the MAP Support Club has been secured and that ongoing research projects will be continued.
