In the German healthcare system, it is mainly the sexual medical specialist counselling centres that specialise in the treatment of sexual preference disorders. Unfortunately, these counselling centres are very thin, so that there are often considerable supply shortages. In large parts of Germany – especially in rural regions – there is hardly any care, which is why people who feel pedophiliac often have to take long distances to find a suitable treatment. The corona pandemic, in turn, has contributed to the fact that since 2020 more opportunities for online treatment have been established in Germany.
